Gender Identity and Autism CEU available on demand and LIVE 1.10.2025
This 3 hour course gives an overview of the research of the occurrence of autistic transgender people and gives a history of the research available. Using positive methods, this course shows how to best support your autistic transgender clients as well as how to include family members in their child’s care. It provides an overview of a family session where parents may not believe their child is transgender and how to help them know their child is. The course also provides sound clinical interventions for working with autistic transgender clients. This course does not support ABA. This course is approved for 3 core hours of CEUs by the UGA School of Social Work for LCSW’s, LPC’s, LMFT’s and counts as related hours for psychologists.
Objectives
- Understand the research on the occurrence of autistic transgender and gender diverse clients.
- Learn how to best support autistic clients that are exploring their gender identity.
- Learn how to talk to and ethically include parents of autistic children that are heavily involved in the treatment of their child.
- Practice interventions to work with Autistic transgender clients including solution focused therapy and mindfulness.
